Will it KEAL
At the risk of infringing on the IP of my favorite reality TV personality, I present to the world “Will it KEAL” Don’t tell Doug, I cant afford the lawsuit and haven’t got anything to sue for anyways.
It’s a large chopping knife for no intended function. The joke has been made the it’s a Tolkein Elvish handle with an Orcish blade.
The blade is sourced from a cast steering component I found on an old piece of logging equipment. After fooling around with the steel in the forge i found it would not harden to take a knife’s edge. I did a full penetration TIG weld to bond an old Nicholsen triangle file to the cutting edge, utilizing a 312 electrode as the filler. It’s a slow process to fill in a large joint on thin material without damaging the parent materials, and i was happy with the result. After welding, the blade has heat cycled multiple times then forged to final shape.
The handle features 6061 aluminum bolster and pommel, locked in with brass pins. The grip is primarily bookended pieces of Wenge with Purple heart inlays. Its a roomy comfortable grip well suited for large hands or gloves.
This unite measures in at 15 11/16’’ from tip to tail. 9 13/16’’ of that length is dedicated to the business end. I had to bump up the sales price online because it is too large to ship using my normal processes.
